From the Klock Family Newsletter, December 2001, Issue #5

Mrs. Helen Laura Clock WilliamsI am sure most of you have heard of Mrs. Williams. She is the woman who wrote the Klock/Clock genealogy book. This book is probably the most used and quoted genealogy book on the Klock/Clock family ever written. Mrs. Williams started researching her family tree about 1946, long before the computer and the internet. She had to go everywhere in her quest to find information about her family; according to the article in "The Plain Truth", her hometown newspaper, dated August 21, 1966. "I met so many wonderful people that I have lost count," she said in the article.

In her search she went to city halls, libraries, graveyards and historical societies for information. She claims the Western Reserve Historical society, 10825 East Boulevard, NE in Cleveland is one of the best in the country. Mrs. Williams was able to trace her family to Hendrick Klock who came from Germany about 1704.

She published the first Klock/Clock genealogy in 1952 and a revised edition in 1966 when she was 90 years old.

Mrs. Williams was born on November 19, 1876. She attended the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. She married Daniel Fred Williams on November 14, 1899 in Zion Church in Monrowville, Ohio. Her husband, Daniel was born in 1876 and was a graduate of Kenyon College and worked as assistant treasurer of Harris-Seybold Company, now the Harris-Intertype Corporation of Cleveland Ohio. Her husband, Daniel died in 1955. The family lived in east Cleveland for many years and sang in the St. Paul Episcopal Church Choir there. Mrs. Williams was active in the Woman's Orchestra Committee. The Williams' had two sons, Daniel and Ray. Mrs. Williams died October 7, 1968 at the age of 91.

Her book, the Klock/Clock Genealogy is 231 pages and can be purchased for about $71.70 plus tax. For information contact:
