Betty Klock

Betty V. Klock 60 of Klock Road, Fort Plain RD 1, died Friday morning at her home after a long illness.

Mrs. Klock was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Stone Arabia, the daughter of Rutherford and Mildred Hinkle Downes. She was a 1947 graduate of Fort Plain High School and was a lifelong area resident.

She had assisted her husband in the operation of a dairy farm for the past 40 years, and was employed as secretary for the Mohawk Minden Insurance Group of Canajoharie for the past 15 years.

Mrs. Klock was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church of East Stone Arabia and a member of its ladies circle.

She was a member of the Cross Trails Square Dance Club of Canajoharie and was active for many years with the Minden Workers 4-H Club of Fort Plain.

Mrs. Klock was married on June 5, 1948 to Donald H. Klock.

In addition to her husband, survivors include two sons, John D. Klock, Ames, and William Klock, Fort Plain RD 1; two daughters, Shirley Tompson, Glen, Marie Klock, Ames; two brothers, Robert Downes, Ames, Harold Downes, Canajoharie; a sister Doris Downes, Schenectady; a granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.

Services were Monday at the Salem United Methodist Church, East Stone Arabia. Burial will be in Fort Plain Cemetery.

Calling hours were Sunday at Swartz and Schiedel Funeral home Inc., Fort Plain.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Herkimer County Hospice, 257 N. Main St., Herkimer, or to the Esther Lamphere Memorial Fund, c/o Salem United Methodist Church.
